IT Fundamentals
Information Technology Foundations
This course allows students to develop a broad understanding of information technology and determine whether a career in this field is right for them. It covers all major areas of IT, establishing a foundational framework for potential students.
Students must successfully complete all course components with a score of 80% or higher to be eligible to enroll in the Information Technology program.
Objectives
- Understand the functions and types of devices used within a computer system
- Apply basic computer maintenance and support principles
- Identify security issues affecting the use of computers and networks
Course Orientation
Students must attend a course orientation at their chosen time, either 8 am or 3 pm, on the first class day.
Students will meet in the West Building, Room 1836.
This is a self-paced course. Students begin on Monday and must complete the final exam by no later than Friday.
Open Lab Availability
Monday – Thursday: 8 am – 9 pm
Friday: 8 am – 4 pm
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Individuals are responsible for canceling their registration should they not be able to attend. Refunds will not be issued for non-attendance. Cancellations received before the first day of class will receive a 100% refund. No refunds will be given on or after the first day of class.

New to Continuing Education?
After logging in, follow these steps to register for Continuing Education courses in the MYBTECH portal:
- Log in to the MyBTECH portal.
- Click the Continuing Education tab.
- Select Register for CE.
- Choose Add/Drop Courses.
- Change TERM to Continuing Education.
- Enter the registration code listed with the class dates to find your course.
- Select Add and complete payment.
